Surgeons Short Course: June 2013

Course summary

Mike Esson, Lincoln

This three-day course is designed to provide drawing and modelling tuition to assist the plastic surgeon to better understand the human form so as to improve the qualitative outcomes of reconstruction. The aim of the course is to be of direct value to pre and intra operative assessment, whilst developing a greater awareness of spatial relationships and contour of the human body. The evaluation of structure, form and asymmetry will be central to the focus of the course.

Through practical workshops and lectures, course participants will be introduced to a wide range of approaches which will further their observational and perceptual skills. Working between two and three dimensions exploration will deal with formal and aesthetic qualities and develop an alternative understanding of structure and form of the human form including the face and breast.

Life drawing from the model will allow the opportunity for drawing strategies to be applied to the body and the development of drawing skills.
